Bahrain International Airport
Bahrain International Airport (BIA) is located on Muharraq Island, 4 kilometres north of the capital Manama and within a 15 minutes drive from the city centre. BIA serves as a regional hub for a significant number of international airlines,
including cargo carriers and charter flight operators.
The airport now handles more than 4.2 million passengers a year and in any given week 12 middle east carriers, led by the national carrier Gulf Air, operates more than 300 flights to over 50 destinations in the Gulf and the Middle East. It is expected that the status of the airport as the Gulf’s regional hub will be enhanced further by the continued expansion and upgrading of facilities.
In addition, BIA offers highly efficient air cargo facilitates, with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons. It’s 18,000 square meter Air Cargo Centre provides a full range of cargo handling services, including trans-shipment arrangements, trucking customs clearance and special storage arrangements. Break bulk facilities are also available for consolidators and bonded warehousing for specialist companies.
