During the 1st day of Ramadan
Dr. Fakhro inspects Manama Central Market

To enhance its continuous control on market particularly on central market for fruits, vegetables, and meat in addition to major supermarkets Industry and Commerce Minister accompanied by a number of ministry officials made an inspection visit to Manama Central Market as well as Ramez in Manama to check on the availability of required quantities of food and to stand on prices movement in the market during the holy month of Ramadan, where the demand significantly increase on different basic of foodstuffs such as rice, meat, flour products, vegetables and other consumption goods. 

During his inspection tour to vegetables and fruits market accompanied by Mr. Ibrahim Al Amir and Mr. Redha Al Bustani, the minister and officials briefed on the quantities of vegetables and fruits available and stressed that the prices are stables and quantities imported cover the demand. 30 trucks loaded with 25 tons of fruits and vegetables arrive to Bahrain on a daily basis and there is a significant improvement in the number of shoppers with the entry of the holy month.  Mr. Redha added that Ramadan this year is cheaper than in previous years and there is overcrowding in quantities of vegetables and fruits have been re-export the surplus.

In Ramez stores, Marketing Manager Mr. Ghaleb Mansour confirmed Ramez management keen to provide all facilities and promotions continuously to consumers, pointing to start putting a lot of commodities within special offers before and during Ramadan which includes all Ramadan goods and they are available in large quantities and sold some at cost price. Mr. Ghaleb added that market movement is active and witnessed much more offers than the previous years.

The minister also visited Manama central market for meat, where Manager of Bahrain Livestock Company Mr. Ibrahim Salman confirmed that the company has pumped since yesterday July 31, 2011 to the market from 4am until 4pm quantities over demand nearly 3250 head of sheep and 67 head of slaughtered cows.

Butchers praised and Bahrain Livestock cooperation in providing required consumers materials, appreciating the ministry’s role in enhancing this sector and achieving stability required during Ramadan.
