The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has stepped up inspection campaigns across Bahrain’s markets and commercial establishments ahead of Eid Al-Fitr, and amid current regional developments.

Assistant Undersecretary for Control and Resources, Abdulaziz Al-Ashraaf, said the campaigns are carried out in cooperation with the private sector, in an aim to ensure continued monitoring of goods, maintain price stability, and verify businesses’ compliance with laws and regulations, and enhance customer confidence in transactions.

The ministry has implemented pre-Eid inspection plans covering key seasonal activities, including fruit and vegetable shops, beauty salons, tailoring outlets, sweet shops and bakeries, restaurants, catering kitchens, as well as malls and commercial centers.

The Assistant Undersecretary noted that the campaigns focus on monitoring market conditions and identifying any indicators that may affect the smooth flow of goods. They also involve overseeing sales practices, discounts, and promotional offers, ensuring price transparency, and preventing exploitation of increased demand through misleading promotions or unjustified price hikes. He stressed that the ministry will take the necessary legal action against any violations detected.

Al-Ashraf emphasized that these measures support a fair and balanced commercial environment, protecting consumer rights, reinforcing market discipline, and ensuring the availability of goods and stable prices.
